About The Teacher
Welcome to second grade. I am excited to start a new year even if it will look different. I would like to take this opportunity tell you a little about myself. This year marks the beginning of my 32nd year of teaching. We will just pretend that I started teaching at the age of 12, so I won’t feel so old.
I am a transplant from Iowa. I moved here after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa, formerly known as the Iowa Teachers College. I worked as a guest teacher for a year and then began my teaching career in Apache Junction teaching 4th grade. I worked there for 4 years. Then I made the move to the Kyrene School District. I helped open Mirada Elementary. That same year I also received my Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in elementary education. I taught fourth grade for the first year at Mirada and then made the move to 3rd grade. I have taught 3rd grade for a long time so it was time for a change. 2nd grade is my home now.
I believe every child can and must learn. I also know that for some kiddos this is not always easy, whereas for others it is like breathing. Having a strong team between home and school will help your child reach his/her potential. I hope that we have many opportunities to work together to make this happen. You are the first teacher in your child’s life and I value your input.
Let’s make this a great learning year for your child. I can be reached by phone: 541-4336 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org . I hope to chat often.
