Do I need to submit a meal application for each child enrolled in the Kyrene School District?

-
How will I know of my child’s eligibility for free or reduced-price lunches?
The Notice of Eligibility letter is sent to the oldest child or only child’s school and given to the child to return to you.
-
If I have a change in my household income or number of people living in the household do I need to submit a new meal application?
No, you do not need to submit a new application since the original status is good for the entire school year. However, you may update your income/household information at any time by calling 480-541-1350 or by submitting an electronic application or updated paper application.

Will my income be verified?
You may be asked to verify your income at any time during the school year. The National School Lunch Program also requires a random selection of 3% of our total number of applications for income verification each year. If your application is selected, you are notified via USPS mail and asked to provide gross income information by a required due date. If no response to the required request, you will have to pay full price for meals.

Account Balance Accumulations and Notifications are as follows:
Once a student’s meal account reaches a deficit of two meals, then an Alternative meal will be served until funds are restored. An Alternative lunch consists of a Cheese Sandwich, Vegetable/fruit and milk.
We email parents daily when a negative balance occurs on a meal account, until funds are restored. If no email address is available, we mail negative balance letters home once a week to notify parents.
