•
    Grading Policy
    • Project grades are going to be entered using a Standards-based approach
    • All projects and presentations in the class will be graded on a rubric scale: 4-3-2-1
    • The entered grade for a project will be based on an average of the individual rubric scores, not as a percent of total possible points from the rubric
    • The overall letter grade follows the Marzano Conversion Scale:
    A:  3.0 – 4.0
    B:  2.50 – 2.99
    C:  2.0 – 2.49
    D:  1.0 – 1.99
    F:  0.0 – 0.99

     Homework & Late Assignments

I understand that we all have things outside of school that may interfere with getting our stuff completed on time which is why I make sure and provide plenty of time in class for students to get their work completed. The only circumstance where I assign homework is when students are not able to finish their projects during the provided classtime.

All assignments are due on the date listed in ParentVUE/StudentVUE. In order to begin preparing students for High School when they leave Aprende, I have setup a declining timeframe based on grade level for when late assignments will be accepted. No late assignments will be accepted after this final cutoff date and the assignment will be marked with a 0 based on the grading scale listed above.

Below are the number of days past the due date that late assignments will be accepted (marked in the assignment description in ParentVUE as the cutoff date):

    6th Grade: 10 calendar days

    7th Grade: 5 calendar days

Anything turned in after those cutoff dates will not be graded. It is better to turn in a partially completed project than to not turn anything in.

    8th Grade: 0 calendar days

No late assignments will be accepted unless due to absences. 8th grade students that are absent when an assignment is due will follow basic high school guidelines for make-up work - the number of days missed plus 1. For example: If a project is due on Friday and the student is absent that Thursday and Friday, they will have 3 school days to get it turned in, which would make it due the following Wednesday.

Late turn-ins for any assignments due during the last week of the quarter will NOT be accepted for any grade level.
