About Mr. Ehrler!
Mr. Ehrler began teaching at Altadeña in 2012. Since then, the Altadeña Band Program has grown to more than 250 students. This program includes three concert bands (beginning Concert Band, intermediate Symphonic Band, and advanced Wind Ensemble), two jazz bands, and two winter guards. These programs have been recognized across the state of Arizona for their high levels of achievement (e.g. Altadeña 8th Grade Band: 2018 Arizona Music Educators Conference Showcase Performers, Altadeña Winter Guard: 2018 State Champions).
In addition to his instructional responsibilities as a band director, Mr. Ehrler has earned his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, from Arizona State University, which has allowed him to be successful in many different areas of the educational system. Mr. Ehrler has created a thriving band parent booster organization (the first of its kind for the Kyrene School District), served on Altadeña’s leadership team, assisted in the creation of new district-wide master schedules, and served on the Kyrene School District’s hiring panel to select new principals. Mr. Ehrler has also taken part in helping to reframe the mission, vision, and culture of our school, managed all instrument purchases for the district, and has worked closely with teachers, band directors, and administrators in order to ensure that student recruitment and sustained student interest remain the highest of priorities, especially as it relates to band programs.
Not only is Mr. Ehrler an Arizona native, he is also an alumnus of Altadeña Middle School (1999-2001). Mr. Ehrler now lives in Chandler with his wife, Bianca, and two children, Adelaide and Jasper. When he is not teaching, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, and staying physically active in any way he can (e.g. Parkour, Fencing, Yoga, obstacle races, etc.).
Mr. Ehrler is honored to be teaching in a community with such a rich history of music education and is committed to continuing that great tradition.
