| About Ms. Rogers
|Welcome to Art class! My name is Su Rogers and this is my 22nd year of teaching in Kyrene. I have taught kindergarten through 4th grade and have been a proud Art teacher for the past 8 years. I have my bachelor's degree from Smith College and my Master's from NAU, both in Education. Many people don't know that I also minored in Art at Smith. Fourteen years ago I achieved National Board Teacher Certification through a rigorous process of self-study and reflection on my teaching practices and I was able to renew my certification 4 years ago. I believe in setting high standards and working hard to achieve them.
I enjoy reading, photography, painting, drawing, bicycling, hiking, and yoga. My daughter, Delaney, attended Kyrene throughout her elementary years and is now teaches art at Kyrene de los Ninos.
Kyrene School District has continually recognized the value of arts in education. As budgets get tighter and challenges get bigger, this district has continued to support of the arts. Studies have shown that arts education has an enormous impact on improved student attendance, academic performance, teamwork, problem solving, and innovative thinking. Partner that with the life skills taught at Mirada and you have the perfect recipe for success! I am very proud to be a part of the Mirada Community and Kyrene School District. I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
