Colina DISCOVERosity Zone online!
The DISCOVERosity Zone is a STEM based learning program that takes place during lunch recess. It is run by volunteers with support of donations and tax credit donation funds. The DZ provides an opportunity for students to freely explore a variety of science and engineering concepts. This year DZ will be open on Wednesday and Thursday!
The DISCOVERosity Zone can only be open if there are parent and community volunteers available during lunch recess. There has to be a minimum of 2 volunteers for the room to be open and 4 is optimal. Below you will find a link to sign-up to volunteer and see who is volunteering on what days and where there is a need, as well as orientation materials about the time spent in DZ and procedure.
Re-Opening to students in September.
We will be open for visits on Mon Jul 29th for meet the teacher and on Aug 8 and 14 for Curriculum Nights. We welcome visitors on all these nights.
We will need volunteers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during lunch recess but we also need the following volunteers who can work at home or anytime convenient at school:
Social Media poster/monitor
Activity prep (occasional and as needed - doing things like making jello or playdough in preparation for weekly activities)
At School but flexible time
Admin help (especially at the beginning of the year)
Room reorganizer (once a month)
Invention bin monitor (once a week)
There will be New Volunteer Orientations on Monday Aug 26 at 8am and 1:30pm and Friday Aug 30 at 9:30am in the DR.
