Staff Bios
Jenefer Ardell Miller
Jenefer is a native of
Michigan and has studied dance, choreography, and musical theatre all across
the United States. On scholarship at Oakland University for 4 years,
she received her Bachelor of Arts in the Performing Arts in 1997.
While attending OU, her choreography was faculty selected to be presented at
Cornell University for the American College Dance Festival.
She has appeared on stage
with VIB Dance Theatre of Chicago, Especially Tap Chicago, the Detroit Tap
Festival, the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, and Oakland Dance Theatre.
She has performed in shows along side Fayard Nicholas, Dianne Walker, Lane
Alexander, Savion Glover, Rhythm ISS, and more.
In 2001, Jenefer was
honored to perform solo at the Detroit Tap festival honoring the legendary
Nicholas Bros. Jenefer’s choreography “Down on Wall Street” was aired on ABC
for the Showstopper American Dance Championships in 1997. Her
directorial and choreography show credits include: Fiddler on the
Roof, My Fair Lady, Into the Woods, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, to
name a few.
She has helped several
students obtain scholarships from organizations such as The Chicago Human
Rhythm Project and the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts.
In 1999, Jenefer was proud to accept an award from Governor John Engler of
Michigan for positive artistic impact on youth and dedication to the field
of education. Jenefer obtained a Master of Arts in Elementary
Education at the University of Phoenix and has been teaching in the public
school system ever since. She is currently teaching 7th grade Language
Arts and Social Studies at Akimel A-al Middle School where she is also a proud
sponsor of the Drama Club.
Sherrie
Cantor
Sherrie has
enjoyed living in
Florida,
Illinois, Texas, California, New York and
England, but has settled down in Arizona where two of her three boys were
born. She began her college education at California State Northridge
studying speech and drama, later transferring to Arizona State University's
architectural college. Her theater experience includes costuming and
props for several productions at Northridge as well as painting and
designing backdrops for Annie, Willy Wonka, and Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers.
Sherrie's love of all things creative led to
running the Art Masterpiece program at Estrella for three years. For the
last two years, she has been teaching drawing and cartooning to elementary
students in the Kyrene School District. She also teaches painting to junior
high aged students and paints murals on commission.
