Mrs. Simunek

Welcome 6th grade students and families!  I am very excited to be working with you this year.  This is my 20th year of teaching.  I have taught every grade from 2nd to 8th grade and 6th is my favorite. 

I am a proud Paloma parent.  My daughter Kaylee is a third grader in Mr. Mares' classroom.  I spend a great deal of time trying to keep up with her as she is involved in swimming, church activities and Brownie Girl Scouts. 

As a teacher, I am constantly learning new things.  I have a bachelor's degree and masters degree in elementary education and I am currently working on my ESL endorsement.  I  also participate in technology classes and other relevant trainings to enhance my content area teaching.

It is my goal to instill a love of learning in my students.  I spend a great deal of time working with each student while determining goals and tracking progress.  I believe teaching is the most challenging profession and I wear many hats including teacher, mentor, coach, cheerleader, counselor, and sometimes even nurse.  :)
