Kyrene Parents and Guardians, Please join me for a monthly community drum circle, where we will relax and share in a musical experience that is shared by cultures throughout the world and as long as people have been banging things together to make a joyful noise. .
·What is a drum circle? A drum circle is a gathering of people playing drums, shakers, and other percussion instruments with the purpose of exploring and sharing rhythms with each.
·Who can participate in a drum circle? Anyone can play in a drum circle, regardless of their previous musical experiences, or lack of experiences!
·What are the benefits of participating in a drum circle? Group music-making builds community; relieves stress; provides an opportunity for “untrained” musicians to express themselves musically; improves cognitive abilities; many enthusiasts experience spiritual rewards, as well.
·What do I need to bring? Nothing! The music room at Estrella has enough rhythm instruments to accommodate over 40 players. If you would like to buy an instrument, there are many options. ·How do we get started? Email me at tvanoostrom@kyrene.org to let me know that you are interested in attending the first drum circle.
