News 'n Notes:

Students are at the end of the assignments for the scrapbook.  They have retyped the graded assignments and printed them for insertion into the final product.  Covers are being laminated.  Assignments are being collated.  The binding machine is busy at work producing the final product which is DUE on Friday, May 8!  TWO DAYS!

Then on Friday, May 15, students will share an assignment of their choice from the scrapbook with the rest of the class. 

In the meantime, we are also reading in class and doing written comprehension work. Advanced students: Animal Farm          Regular classes: The Outsiders

Procedural Notes:

Fourth Quarter: NO LATE WORK will be accepted: Students are STILL required to do the work.  When turned in, the grade remains a zero.  IF they do not have the assignment by the following day, they will go to ISI lunch detention every day until I get the assignment.  IF it more than two days of ISI, ASI will be assigned. 

I do NOT assign extra credit.  It pads a grade without reflecting the child's true achievement abilities. 

IF there is homework, your child will have it in the agenda OR it will be here.  I do not regularly assign homework.

Your student is being encouraged to be the communicator with you.  They are responsible and they do know what is going on.  Each one knows where they are doing well (and should feel great about it) and each one knows where they are slacking off.  Everyone needs accountability and encouragement.  These are a great bunch of 8th graders!

On Monday, May 11, your student will bring home a field trip permission slip for a final team building activity - LET'S GO BOWLING!  Thank you for getting the forms filled out and back to us in a timely manner.  We will NOT take forms on the day of the trip (May 18).  They MUST be in on time the week prior.  See the date on the forms.  Thanks!
