Last week (April 14th) we began our volcano science fair!  Thank you to the parents who volunteered to visit this week and help the students build their volcanoes and run their experiments.  The kids have written their experimental questions, performed all of their research, created their hypotheses, determined their manipulated and responding variables, and identified their constants.  This week the kids will write their materials list and step-by-step procedures.  They will build their volcanoes on Wednesday and Thursday and then perform their experiments on Friday.  Next week they will analyze their data and write their conclusions.  We will spend the rest of the week in the computer lab where the kids will type their research paper.

NOTE: If you are in search of your child's exploratory grades (such as PE, Spanish, and Art), please go back to the school website and click on the name of your child's exploratory teacher.

Announcement to Parents: We have begun the unit on Geology and Fossils.  This is a very long unit - it will require the remaining of the year to finish it.  If you are interested in joining us, please contact me.  I would love to have you as my personal guest!  In March we'll learn about earthquakes, volcanoes, continental drift, and layers of the Earth.  In April we'll have our very own volcano science fair and in May we'll be writing our 20-page research paper!!!  What fun we'll have!
