About Mrs. Fahey My name is Sarah Fahey and I'm a native of Arizona. I grew up and went to school in Mesa. I graduated from Arizona State University in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I finished my Master's Degree in Education Leadership through Northern Arizona University in 1999. I have been teaching for twelve years. I'm excited to say this is my third year at Waggoner but my tenth year in the Kyrene District. Teaching First Grade at Waggoner is really a treat. I have also taught Second Grade and Third Grade. I really enjoy working with young children. Being a teacher is like starting a new job every August. I enjoy the relationships I form with students and families each year. I live in Gilbert with my wonderful husband, Vince, our two children, Mallory, age 7, and Ryan, age 4, and our pug dog Madison. Spending time with my children and husband is the most important thing in my life. I also like to read, swim, go to movies, and spend time with friends and family.
Our Class We have a wonderful group of first
graders who are excited each day they come to school. We have 12 boys and 9
girls in our class. We enjoy reading groups, learning stations, math,
spelling, Star of the Week, special classes, author celebrations, and more
every week!

Homework Homework and classroom newsletters are sent home each Monday. Students work on their packets all week and fill out reading logs and then everything is returned on Fridays in the special yellow homework folders. Special Fall Activities In September and October we will work on an apple theme and start activities with pumpkins. We will use pumpkins to help us with math problems as well as reading about the life cycle of plants. We will even write pumpkin stories. We will start our trip around the world by "flying" to Australia soon. We are still preparing our passports and learning our address, phone numbers, and birthdays. At the end of the October we will have a wonderful fall celebration and costume parade. Don't forget fall break October 8-12! No school for students on October 15th for a teacher workday.
