About Ms. Divsalar
I was born in Sacramento, California, and moved to Arizona with my family when I was 8 years old. When I moved here I began the third grade at Kyrene de la Paloma Elementary School. I then went on the attend Pueblo Middle School and Corona del Sol High School. While attending ASU, I was able to do many of my internships within the Kyrene School District, and even one semester here at Waggoner. After student teaching at Kyrene de las Manitas, I went on to fill a long term substitute position in the first grade there. After graduating from ASU, I was thrilled to become a first grade teacher here at Waggoner Elementary School where I can continue being a part of the Kyrene School District. When I am not teaching, I love going to the movies, relaxing, and possibly sneaking in some shopping.
Our Class I am so lucky to have such an amazing group of kind, intelligent, and creative first graders. We are having a blast working together, making new friends, and accomplishing our goals. Our class "Trip around the World" will allow us to explore countries while integrating all of the core content areas into our travels. I look forward to watching them grow as learners and gain the confidence to be successful in all the years to come.

Homework Homework goes home every week on Monday and is returned on Friday of that same week. Both optional homework and spelling words are attached to the back of the weekly homework packet. Students are also asked to read for 15 minutes each night. This can be reading to a parent, parents reading to the child, or reading together. Students can read from their reading group book or a book of their choice. Your child should be bringing home his/her sight word envelope every day to practice. He/she should be able to say the words on sight, and not have to sound them out. If your child knows the words quickly, you can make it more challenging for them. Try saying the word and having them spell it, putting the word in ABC order, or putting the words in a sentence. At the end of each month, if your child turns in the completed monthly reading log, he/she will get a special prize.
