My goal as a teacher is to have my students learn the 2nd grade curriculum in such a way that they not only excel in all the subject areas, but they retain that knowledge to carry with them in their future years ahead. According to Benjamin S. Bloom, “We are inclined to believe that this is the most important growing period for academic achievement and that all subsequent learning in the school is affected and in large part determined by what the child has learned by the age of 9 or by the end of grade 3.” These next two years are important academic years for the students. I believe that with the active participation and encouragement from parents, together we can make this a successful year of learning for the students.
