Volunteers Needed!

Math Centers:  This involves assisting students for math fact fluency.  This would involve 90 minutes per week (once a week) in the months of late November, December, and January.

Reading Fluencies:  This would involve working with one student at a time.  The student reads a one-minute passage and you mark the errors and count the number of words read in that minute.  Reading fluency practice would take place on Tuesday afternoon 1:00-2:30 p.m.  I will hold a training  session before we begin.

Jeopardy:  Be Alex Trebek (you  are given the answer sheet) and work with three children playing a reading or math Jeopardy game.  This will be Tuesday 1:00-2:30.

Let me know if you are interested.  THANKS!

Homework

Each week you'll receive a spelling assignment.  Typically it is a list of sentences to practice.  Some parents find is valuable to write the sentences each day or orally practice the sentences.

Reading homework begins the third week of school.  Look for your child's reading folder on Monday.  Inside the folder you will find a small book 32-40 pages and a coordinating assignment.  The fiction and nonfiction stories are interesting!  This folder is due on Thursday.

Weekly Folder

Each Friday your child will bring home a weekly folder to share their week's accomplishments with you.  The empty folder needs to be returned on Monday with your signature on the enclosed signature card and any comments or questions you might have.  Your signature assures me that you have received and reviewed your child's work.
