About Mrs. Kiefer

Hi!  I am a native of Arizona.  I received my bachelors degree from ASU and my masters degree in Elementary Education from NAU.  It has been my pleasure to teach Waggoner students for the past 21 years.  I am married and have two wonderful children.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family.

Our Class

There are 25 students (14 boys and 11 girls) in our fantastic third grade class.  We are enjoying working and learning with each other.

Next month we will start our home reading program.  Your child should be reading at least 20 minutes three times a week.  Please record the minutes read on the pink reading cards and send them in when they are complete.  Thank you for your support with reading at home.

All graded work from the week will be sent home on Friday.  Please expect a newsletter each week from me and a letter home from your child every other week.  You do not need to sign and return the newsletter.  Please feel free to  contact me via e-mail.  I will get back to you much faster that way!

Homework

Homework is such an important way to reinforce concepts that have been taught in class.  Homework will be given Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Homework is due the following day, unless other arrangements have been made.  Please encourage your child to be responsible and check his/her homework calendar daily.

Challenge Homework

Book Projects

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  Please send a note if your child did not have time to complete homework and I will not issue a late slip.  Also if your child has been working on homework for 30 minutes and is having difficulty, please send me a note or e-mail so that I can review the concept with your child.  Thanks!
