About Ms. Shaw
Hello Waggoner families! I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful Waggoner staff. I
have previously taught second and third grade. I look forward to
teaching fourth grade this year with a great group of children!
After my college years at Northern Arizona University,
I knew that I wanted to fully dedicate myself to helping others in the
community. I was selected as an AmeriCorps volunteer (a government
funded program similar to the national Peace Corps) and I was sent off to
Washington, D.C. in order to travel and serve the east coast communities.
While working in AmeriCorps, my time was spent working with
illiterate and abused/neglected children. I came to the realization that
my time spent with youth at risk was most valuable as many of the
children did not have a role model or teacher to look up to for
direction.
I received my Masters in Elementary Education from
Northern Arizona University. It is a personal goal of mine to return to
school and earn my doctorate. Education has always played such an
important role in my life, and I would like it to become just as
important in the lives of students as well. Thank you all for your
continued support and making Waggoner the amazing community that it is. I
look forward to another outstanding year!
Our Class We have a wonderful mix of 28 fourth graders in our class. Every student has their own unique personality and array of talents. I love witnessing their creative writing and artistic abilities! I have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them and I look forward to watching them grow this year!

Homework Homework is assigned Monday - Thursdays, and the homework is to be turned in the next day it is due. Our class reading goal is to read five days a week for 20 minutes each session. The students are to complete their goal reading calendars by writing in their times each night, and submit the calendars with a parent signature when due.
