Mrs. Bordelon - 4th Grade - Room 65

Fourth grade is a year full of
exploration and learning. It is exciting for me to be a part of that
adventure with your child!
I am very excited to introduce myself as your child’s fourth grade
teacher! My name is Kim Bordelon. My family and I moved to Phoenix in
1999 from Tucson, Arizona. In Tucson I taught second grade, third
grade, and Kindergarten. I am married and have two sons, Alex who is
21 a graduate of Desert Vista, a student at A.S.U. and a U.S. Marine, and Mikey who is
12 and a seventh grader
at Altadena. I grew up and attended college in Ohio, but have
been a desert dweller for about seventeen years. I love traveling
(especially to the beach). I am an avid skier and enjoy weekend
trips to Sunrise in the White Mountains and Utah powder. I spend
a lot of time as a spectator at Mikey's various sporting events, and I
love to curl up with a good book.
I believe the key to your child’s educational success is to work
together as a student, teacher, and parent team. This partnership will
communicate a message to your child that their education is important,
and we all are invested in their success. I will keep you informed by
sending home behavior and academic progress reports and a
newsletter every month. In an effort to "go green" my newsletter will
be emailed to you and posted to my website.
Fourth grade is an exciting year at
school and your child will be learning many new things. They will be
learning a lot about Arizona in social studies. In science we
will focus on renewable and nonrenewable resources, water and weather,
electricity and magnetism, and animal classification and adaptation. We will also continue to build our
knowledge in language / communication arts, and mathematics. I look
forward to a year of adventure and learning. I love teaching, because
I love to learn. I hope to instill this love of learning in your child
in order to promote lifelong learning.
Sincerely,
Kim Bordelon, NBCT, MAEd.
