The 1st grade art curriculum focuses on basic studio skills as well as the introduction to the language of art. Along with color mixing, pattern, rhythm, and symmetry is featured in some of our projects. Family portraits, homes, gardens, and art of the past are units of study for these young artists. Students learn how to discuss art in a critique setting.
In 1st grade art we also take a look at several author/illustrators. Claude Monet is our fine artist study.
