All About Miss Gershanov
Hello and welcome to our class web page! I would like to take a minute to share a little bit about me and why I became a teacher. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Northern Arizona University with a Masters in Early Childhood Education. I was born in California, and then moved to Oregon, Washington and then to Arizona for school. I love the sunny weather here, so I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon! I have two cats, Chance and Chloe, and they are my babies! When I am not teaching or going to school myself I keep myself busy with friends and selling Mary Kay.
My goal as a teacher is to provide a warm and comfortable environment that promotes optimal learning; therefore I am always thinking of fun and innovative things to do in the classroom. Students in my classroom will experience activities that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Activities, centers, themes, and literature units will be designed around the student’s interests. I believe that learning can only take place if there is motivation and interest both from the teacher and the students. To achieve this important goal, I will dedicate my time to find out every child’s interests and needs as a learner in order to maximize each individual learning style.
Rumor has it, “All you need to know in life, you learned in kindergarten.” I think sometimes in the whirlwind of required testing these days, people get caught up in academics, but completely forget about life skills. My classroom is a well balanced environment of both, where my students will learn the number one rule, “Respect.” We will recite our classroom motto everyday and talk about the significance of it.
Our Classroom Motto
I will safely work and play,
And be kind to others everyday.
I will treat property respectfully,
Follow directions, and listen carefully.
If you have any concerns, thoughts, questions, comments, anything… please don’t hesitate to contact me! There will be a communication form in the take home folder which can be used to write notes back and forth. Please feel free to call me or stop by the classroom before or after school. I would love to hear your feedback and work collaboratively as a team to make this year amazing for all of us!
Yours Truly,
Dena Gershanov

All About Mrs. Bodnicki (Instructional Assistant)
Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to Kindergarten. I would like to tell you a little about myself and wish you a great year of learning and fun. My name is Sheri Bodnicki and I am the instructional assistant in Ms. Gershanov’s classroom. This year will be our 3rd year working together here at Cerritos. I am married and have 2 boys. I am a native of Phoenix, born and raised right here in the valley of the sun. I have a degree in business from ASU, and have worked many years in the areas of retail, buying and promotional businesses. Before working here at Cerritos I taught 4-5 year olds at a preschool here in Ahwatukee and during that time I went back to school to receive my Early Childhood Development Certificate. I enjoy working with children and watching them learn and grow. I am looking forward to a wonderful year and getting to know all of you.
Again welcome,
Sheri Bodnicki
