We use Scott Foresman and Investigations for math.  Investigations contain activities that are more hands on (use of manipulatives, games, physical movement) for learning mathematical concepts.  We do math everyday.  Calendar time is huge for math.  We count, look for patterns, do place value with how many days we've been in school, etc.  Our math block is in the afternoon.  The kids love this time.  Remember, math is everywhere.  It does not have to be boring to be beneficial to your child's learning.  Playing number games to get simple recognition can be as easy as playing a game of concentration.  As they get better, time them and challenge them to beat their best time!
