Meet Mrs. Wurtz I am a native of Arizona growing up in west Phoenix. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from ASU in 1987 and began my career with Kyrene School District the same year. I had the wonderful opportunity to help with the opening of Kyrene de la Mariposa in the fall of 1987 and began my 22 year career teaching kindergarten. I completed my Master Degree in Early Childhood Education from NAU in the winter of 1992. |

What We Are Learning Our class is currently learning about Native Americans. Our focus is on the Plains Indians, Northwest Indians, Eastern Mountain Indians and the Southwest Indians. We are learning how the Native Americans communicated, their food sources, habitats and general life styles. Next week we will be learning about the Pilgrims and their journey to America. We will also be learning how the Indians and Pilgrims interacted, what they learned from each other and how they helped each other. The children will have the opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving Feast on Wednesday, November 26! In December we will begin to learn about our bodies and good nutrient. Just in time for the Holidays! |

Homework Typically, homework will be assigned two to three times a week. Your child's folder will come home on Monday with a letter highlighting the assignments for the week. Please read the letter to see what to do on each homework assignment. All homework extends classroom learning and is beneficial for your child's growth. Parents should interact with their child while encouraging neatness and accuracy. However, please keep in mind it will not benefit your child if you complete the homework for them. The more they do their own work the more they learn.
