Grading information
All students come to music class twice each week. There are two music grades given each quarter. Kindergarten only receives grades once each semester. One grade is based on skills assessment and the other grade is for behavior.
Skills Assessment
Numerous formal and informal assessments are given throughout the quarter to evaluate student progress. At Waggoner, the grading rubric is as follows:
Proficient 6 Student demonstrates the skill exceptionally well, all
the time with musicality
5 Student demonstrates the skill very well, all the time
Developing 4 Student demonstrates the skill most of the time
3 Student demonstrates the skill some of the time
Area 2 Student is unable to demonstrate the skill
Of Concern
1 Student does not attempt the activity
Behavior Assessment
Students are graded in terms of their effort in music class. To earn a proficient grade, students are expected to always being doing their personal best by being respectful to themselves, others, and the instruments. They are also expected to be good listeners, to follow directions, and to participate in all activities.
