A Note From the Principal

Welcome to Kyrene de los Niños School! We are located in Tempe, Arizona, and are one of twenty-five elementary and middle schools in the Kyrene School District. Kyrene de los Niños has been serving children since 1982. Our school name consists of several Spanish words that when translated means Kyrene, School of the Children.  We are very proud of our school and we would like to for you to…

Imagine a school that provides students with a life long love for learning.  Where academic and extracurricular activities are combined to make school a place where kids love to be.

Imagine a school where diversity is a way of life.  At Niños School, children of every, conceivable background work together to create a truly “special” learning environment.

Imagine a school that provides students with a strong educational foundation in reading, writing, math, social studies and science AND art education, music education, physical education and technology education. We believe that the fine arts and technology are just as important as academics. We want each child to find his/her strengths and interests at an early age.

Imagine a school, where everyone believes that all children can learn. Teachers, parents and administrators all work together to provide a strong well-rounded curriculum where no child is left behind.   From Reading Recovery to Gifted Resource Learning, at Niños, no child is overlooked.

Imagine a school, where all teachers have a strong commitment to their profession. They continuously search for ways to meet the individual needs of all of their students. Their unending dedication is evident by their passion for their students, their interests to continue to learn and their hard work. The Niños staff models caring, communication and commitment to the young learners in our building.

Imagine a school environment that embraces the six pillars of Character Counts! All parents want their children to be trustworthy, responsible, respectful, fair, caring and citizens. As a school we model these pillars and reinforce students for their positive actions in these areas. We believe that our students will be tomorrow’s leaders and we want them to succeed.

Imagine a school that will care for your child’s education and your child’s safety, an environment that will work with you as a partner in your child’s education. We believe that our school is like the following poem,

“Each edge piece of a puzzle interlocks

with two others to form the puzzle’s

framework and give structure and

support to the puzzle as a whole.

Each piece has a unique design and cut

that ensure just the right place

to fit within the puzzle.

Each morning, staff members form the

large edge pieces that interlock to

create a safe environment and give support to one

another and the whole.

Each morning they provide

just the “right place” for every student

to fit safely and securely.”

The staff members are strength and stability and

Like the edge pieces, they do not stand

alone in this responsibility. There are

always others to support and assist

ensuring that every student has a place.”

Imagine a school where the “whole child” is taught, nurtured, encouraged and molded into a future leader of society, where diversity and personal strengths are embraced, where a child learns the joy of life long learning. It is this philosophy that makes Niños school unique. Imagine!
