My brain was striving for an idea.
(Free Verse)
by Stephanie L.

BOOM!
BOOOM!
A thunderstorm was starting up
As it rumbled in a low voice
Like a dog growling fiercely
Then BOOM!
My brain thought furiously
Like a storm rising in my head
Then an electrifying bolt of lighting streaked across the sky.
Ideas flashed across my mind
A colorful rainbow appeared as vivid as ever radiating in the sky.
An idea had formed and I watched my pen writing peacefully like the earth after
the rain.

The Birthday Party
(Narrative Poem)
by Samantha L.
Decorations
are up
And we're all going crazy,
For today is the birthday
Of our old cow Mazy
Mazy
is out in the pasture
While things are getting ready,
So far so good,
Everything is going steady
Guests
are arriving
Chickens, sheep, pigs and cows,
the cake is missing
who ate it? The sow
"Moo!"
we all hear
The guest of honor has come,
Then walks in Mazy
With a mouth full of plums
"Surprise!"
we all say like
someone made the winning score
Mazy's mouth dropped open,
Now there's plums on the floor
Presents
aplenty,
Presents galore,
Mazy's party is a success
Hooray, Hooray, what a roar
It's
now time for ice-cream
Since the sow ate the cake,
But what else to have?
Here you'll find no steak
Now
for some games
I know what to play,
Maybe duck-duck-goose
Or find the needle in the hay
"Moo,
oink, cluck baa, Mazy!"
the guests are saying goodbye
Next time we won't bake a cake
Next time we'll make a pie!
It's
officially over
I'm glad that it's done,
But now it is time
To plan for the next one!

Great
Grandpa
by Alix R.
My great grandpa
past on
When I was five years old
I was playing with my toys
It was his daughter, my grandma
She said he died
My heart broke
My soul shattered
My eyes watered
And I cried all day
I went to his funeral
I stood there staring at a box
For al long as forever
I'll never understand how he died.
