KMV's new rock wall

An overview of KMV's new rock wall
KMV's new rock climbing wall spans the length of the multipurpose room's west wall.
Monte Vista students are climbing the wall ... but that's a good thing!

If you've visited the school's multipurpose room lately, you've probably noticed a change to the west wall. Over the past several months, the plain brick wall has been transformed into a rock climbing wall, complete with secure hand and finger grips and an extensive and colorful mural.

The climbing wall, which is used by students of all ages, is the result of a lot of hard work and fundraising by both Monte Vista's PTO and its Student Council.

Students spent the first week learning all the safety rules. The wall includes red safety mats, which can be seen in the photo above. When the wall is not in use, the safety mats flip to an upright position, which covers the hand and finger grips and prohibits unauthorized use.

Below are some links to additional photos of the new wall:

  • The rock wall comes with rules.

  • A view of the rock wall with red safety mats extended.

  • A closeup shows labels that identify different grips.

  • Another view of the rock wall.

  • The rock wall wouldn't be complete without KMV's mountain lion mascot!
