An independent school organization comprised of parents, teachers and administrators. Its purpose is to enhance the educational environment of
students.
PTO...Who are we and what do
we do?
Every parent
and teacher of a Monte Vista child is a member of the PTO, the parent teacher
organization of Monte Vista. A board of parent volunteers, a teacher
representative and over 25 committees, comprised of parent volunteers, leads the
Monte Vista PTO. Our volunteers organize our PTO sponsored social and academic
events and work together to make Monte Vista the great school it is!
The PTO financially supports
and leads several events and programs throughout the school year, including the
Family Reading Program, Fall Festival, Pumpkin Walk, Spring Carnival and Silent
Auction, the 5th Grade Celebration, Teacher and Staff holiday
Luncheons and appreciation gifts. These programs directly benefit the Monte
Vista community with resources that include books and materials for the Teacher
Literacy Room, Family Reading Program and Masterpiece Art program and support
the salaries of the Computer Aid and Lunch Aid. Additional funds are required
for continuing education classes for teachers, playground equipment, office
equipment for staff and teachers, school paper supplies. All of these programs
demand successful fund raising each school year.
There are 4 general evening PTO
meetings during the school year, offering you a chance to be informed and
involved. You may also choose to join one of our Planning committees. Each
general meeting hosts a different and dynamic speaker with topics ranging from
Introducing Special Programs at Monte Vista to News from the Kyrene District.
Topics for PTO meetings are selected from member responses to the annual PTO
survey taken at the end of the prior school year. Each PTO member has a voice
and we hope you will choose to participate in your organization.
