The mission of the Colina Library Media Center is to ensure that staff and students are effective users of ideas and information, and that they become lifelong readers and learners.
Our library has over 14,000 books. In addition, we have a collection of reference books, magazines, a professional library, CD ROMS, and on-line encyclopedias. Our computerized library look-up system is accessible in the classrooms and on the Colina library webpage.
Students come to the Library Media Center weekly with their classes. During Library time students will participate in a variety of stories and learning activities that reinforce their classroom instruction whether it is themes, author studies or information and technology literacy.
Students check out books from the media center during their weekly visits, on a classroom pass or during their recess periods. Students and families are encouraged to stop by the library any time to ensure ample reading material for family reading time at home.
In the library, we work with student’s classroom teachers to ensure students are checking out books appropriate to their reading level.
We are always in need of volunteers. Please call or stop by if you are interested in volunteering in our Media Center.
