One of the most powerful goddesses is Sylph, the goddess of wind. She has strong wings that can blow all of the Aesir gods down to Nifl Heim, but she can blow so softly, that it is so quiet, even Heimdall can’t hear it. Sylph is useful during hot times, for she can blow gentle breezes for the Aesir gods. Odin is quite grateful for her winds so she was given a bow as a gift of appreciation. Peridots, in the shape of crests, are on it.  Sylph has grey wings with emeralds on them. She has pale skin and beautiful green hair. Sylph looks innocent and weak, but never let her looks fool you. She flies in the air instead of walking so she can travel faster.

Odin granted Sylph the power to split into three forms because he wants her to be the goddess of wind and have assistance.

Sephie, Yutis, and Pheris are her forms. Her bow would split into three different items as well. The bow became a staff, a sword, and a shield. Yutis casts spells to heal others and give the power of an element to a weapon; Sephie fights Jotuns with the sword and Pheris guards Midgard from unwanted Jotuns with the shield. The sword has gold suns and silver moons on it, the shield has gold and silver stars on it, and the staff has the runes on it. When Sephie Yutis and Pheris combine, they create Sylph again.

Odin asked Sylph to blow her winds on Midgard, Sylph thought for a moment and replied, “I will blow winds across Midgard but I will not always do it.”

On a boiling hot day, Odin asked Sylph to blow cool breezes on all the Aesir. Some of the wind passed the world of Aesir gods and goddesses and reached Midgard and Jotun Heim. The people on Midgard enjoyed the cool air. The animals in the air used the gusts of wind to fly faster and more efficiently.  The wind also reached the Jotuns, who hated the wind since it made the Jotuns colder.

Odin noticed that an evil Jotun was in the land. He could not see one anywhere though. That Jotun was Kleykir, a Jotun who strong but not quick-thinking.  He was disguised as a fly and was sitting next to Odin. Kleykir home was positioned so the wind would come blowing in. He wanted to find out what caused it. Odin found Kleykir sitting there, but before he could kill him, Kleykir buzzed off and transformed into a colossal elephant. The Jotun headed towards the Field of Ida.

Sylph happened to be flying in the Field of Ida when Kleykir came charging in. Sylph leaped out of the way and understood this elephant was not from Asgard, land of the Aesir. She used her mighty wings to blow him back to Jotun Heim. Kleykir still did not give up. He gathered many Jotuns together and they all turned into killer bees. They silently snuck in Asgard, being careful to let a few pass Heimdall so he wouldn’t become very suspicious. The Jotuns all burst into Freya’s house and stung her with deadly poisons.

Freya began crying her tears of pure gold quite loudly. Her tears turned into a gleaming waterfall within seconds. Thor arrived and attacked the Jotuns, furiously. Most of them escaped and flew for their lives. Kleykir explained what happened to all the Jotuns who were uninformed about his unauthorized visit to Asgard and his attack on Freya. All of the Jotuns flew into rage and attacked the Aesir. Heimdall heard them coming and instantly reported to the Aesir. Kleykir ordered, “Attack without fear, for we are powerful and undefeatable!” A war broke out between the two lands. The war was known as The War of Nephyr.

Sylph split into her three forms and they all began to fight. Yutis increased the power of Thor’s hammer first so that for every Jotun he attacked; Jotuns close to him would be struck by lightning and be paralyzed. She then gave Sephie’s sword the power to use huge windy blows on the Jotuns. Pheris’s shield would reflect attacks and shot directly at Jotun. Yutis arrived at Freya’s home to heal her.

She tried a powerful healing spell, but the poison would not go away. She looked at the poison closest to the surface of her skin. Freya asked with a quivery voice, “Can you heal me?” Yutis looked at Freya and replied, “The only way to get rid of the poison is to get a single hair from a Jotun that stung you. I have to add that to some pure water. I can apply the mixture on your skin and it will heal you.” Yutis, with her intelligent ways, tricked Kleykir into giving her one single hair. She came to Kleykir’s home, since he was not fighting. She disguised herself as a Jotun and stepped into his home.

She looked around the house for a moment. On the ceiling there were frozen slugs and worms hanging down, and there was a stench of rotten eggs.

Yutis said “You may have a royal past. If you are from a royal family, you could have power to control all the other Jotuns. All I need is a hair from your head.” Kleykir thought for a moment, and handed a hair to what he thought was a Jotun. Kleykir had no idea that the hair was going to be used for a different purpose.

Yutis rushed to a holy spring. She took a bottle and filled it with the holy water. She hurried back to Freya’s house. Freya was relieved to see Yutis. The hair was shook into the bottle and applied. The wounds vanished.  With the war still going on, the Aesir were fighting more often. If a weapon was about to hit the Aesir, Pheris glided to the warrior and pushed her shield in front of him, protecting him from harm. Sephie attacked Jotuns that were seconds away to attacking a warrior by soaring next to the Jotun and slashing her sword at it.

Sylph decided to end the war once and for all. She was tired of having everyone fighting and the hatred in the air. Yutis, Sephie, and Pheris all combined again. Sylph blew a mighty wind and sent all of the Jotuns tumbling backwards into their home, Jotun Heim. The war of Nephyr was over and peace was regained.
