- The Stonehenge is located in Salisbury, England
- It is a large circle of boulders that was built around 2500-1600 B.C.
- Its purpose still remains a mystery to both archeologists and scientists
- The Heel Stone aligns with the sun during the summer solstice and many
other stones that are apart of the monument mark other astronomical
events

- During 2100 B.C. there were two half circles of bluestones probably used
for astronomical alignments
- The Stonehenge was used to mark the summer solstice, for the heel stone
is in perfect alignment with the sun rise of the summer solstice
- Legend says that the heel stone was thrown by the devil into an
impertinent friar, permanently denting the stone
- The British could have helped in the making of the Stonehenge, for on
some of the stones there are carving of daggers and axes proving a
knowledge of
Mediterranean Bronze Age tools
- Giants is a whimsical answer to who made the Stonehenge
- Merlin is also thought to have transported the stones from Ireland.

- The Stonehenge could have been used for religious ceremonies. Thinking
that this was the reason of its making, in 1948 the Druids gathered at
the Stonehenge and prayed with the priest standing on a wooden platform
within the area where the horse-shoe alignment of Sarsen stones would
have been if there today.
- The Stonehenge could be a calendar marking an event in the future based
off of astronomical alignments.
- The Stonehenge could have been an offering for a religious God

- Many scientists think that the Stonehenge had three phases in its
making.
- Phase 1:During approximately 2950-2900 B.C. the Stonehenge was but only
a circular bank with a diameter of 330 feet and within this bank there
was 56 Aubrey holes, named after John Aubrey that held wooden posts.
- Phase 2: During 2900-2400 B.C. the Aubrey holes indicate that there was
timber settings in the middle of the monument, but there is known
pattern or configuration of these.
The Aubrey holes no longer held posts and they were filled with a
cremation.

- Phase 3: 2550-1600 B.C. The monument underwent a sequence of settings
of stones. The first stone
setting was that of the Bluestones placed in what is now known as the Q
and R Holes, which were dismantled and replaced with a circle of Sarsens
and a horseshoe-shape
- arrangements Trilithons were erected.
The Sarsen circle is 108 feet in diameter and was comprised of 30
stones of which 17 are standing.
Atop these were lintels placed in an endless circle and fitted to
curve. This is one of the most
remarkable part of the Stonehenge for scientists to ponder about.

- The mystery of the Stonehenge still hasn’t been answered, but I think
that it was made mostly for astronomical alignments, for most primitive
people had a great fascination for outer space and for the sun.
- The building of the Stonehenge is another great mystery yet to be solved
and the most proven theory is that of the three stages and not that
giants made them.
