If
Justin had not found the toy tinker, than how do you think it would affect
the story? Since
Justin was smart enough to look at the label that said, “To open pull forward
and push sideways,” the rats were able to escape from NIMH. What do you think
would have happened if he hadn’t recognized the label? How
would you feel if you were in the rats and mice position at the Boniface
Estate when they were forced to steal their food? How
would you feel if you were insulted in all of the rat books that you read?
Would you choose to do what Nicodemus did, (proved the books wrong) or what Jenner did, (left and stole more electricity)? What
would you do if your best friend turned on you like Jenner
did to Nicodemus? Would you go with him/her or you do what Nicodemus did? Do you think Justin was fearful about escaping from his
cage and trying to find a way to escape NIMH? If you were Justin, would you
be fearful? Explain. Do you think the rats had any doubts about Justin
finding a way to escape? If you were Jenner would
you have run away right after hearing that the rest of the group was going to
destroy the tools that made their lives easy? Explain
How do you think Mrs. Frisby felt when she heard that Jonathan had a connection with the rats of NIMH? Explain. Why do you think
the rats chose to escape when they knew that the humans were smarter than
them, and would find them?
Literary Section Setting: Looking
from Mrs. Frisby’s perspective, what do you think
she would have imagined the main hall to look like?
