Some important lessons we can learn from Galileo, and probably all inventors, is to ask questions, watch everything around you, and try to find answers. When you ask questions, you try to learn more about the world, and when you try to find answers, you learn. If you are observant, which means to watch everything around you, you will notice many things you may not understand. Ask why, and get an answer. All of these things are lessons to be learned from Galileo.
The telescope changed our lives because without it, there probably would not even be a NASA or any other space program. There is an old saying that "Once you get a taste of something, you'll want more." Well, after people saw up close what the planets were like, they started wondering. Are those planets like Earth? So we sent ourselves into space. Hey, if the planets are much like Earth, is there life on those planets? We are working on figuring that out too. We got a little taste, and we wanted more.
Galileo has become forgotten over time. Even though his inventions, the thermometer and telescope, are things we see everyday, we never think about who's behind these great inventions. I didn't know about Galileo until a few months ago. The telescope was the scientist's toy, while the readings on a thermometer change our entire day, from what we wear, to whether or not we should go outside today. I realize now that Galileo really did change our entire lives…each and every day.
