The Flag Stands High

Our flag has made it through thick and thin….
     It fought in our wars,
and made it through ... to stand tall
         with pride.

Our flag is honorable to our country….

It stands with pride whenever it needs to,
         so people know what
            our country means
.

We love our flag….

It is loved by all Americans who
see it  waving high in the
        sky.

Our flag stands high.

Fire Fighters

They save many lives with plenty of pride,
They smile gleefully as they say,
"I saved that guy!"
Yet, on that tragic day of September 11
those smiles faded,
They risked their lives for the sake of ours,
All of us honor them so,
As they gave us their last go,
We should have to thank them all so much
for all they have done.

On September 11, 2001, the United States of America was hit by a terrible tragedy, which sent a fever of pain and grief from California to New York.  Soon, complete strangers were talking with one another, sharing the same thoughts, and grieving the same way.  Our beloved country still stood.  Our flag was still flying, albeit at half-mast, for the dead though not yet found.  The terrorists had not taken away our pride, as certainly intended but, in fact, given us more.  Thus, as a 10-year-old girl living in greater Phoenix, Arizona, I am proud to say, " I am an American!"
