Sturdy and United
To think it all started with some people
that wanted religious freedom,
then fought to accomplish their dreams.
To think about all the work and trials
they had to overcome,
all the wars they had to fight,
to keep this country safe,
all the masterpieces they had to invent,
to let us take the easy way.
They built up cities,
and took a chance,
to fight against the king.
They walked many miles,
and had hope and faith that no person could ever take away.
They built educated governments,
and militaries that were strong.
They were willing to sacrifice their lives
for our country's well being
Today we are still as sturdy and united,
as are ancestors were at the time.
Sometimes we are frustrated and discouraged,
but when we look at the flag flying high in the sky
we remember what it took to obtain
the Star Spangled Banner
and we know our country will go on
Forever
