However, Flag Day was only made a national day of observance in 1949, when President Harry Truman signed legislation. Since this holiday is celebrated yearly, the presidents have asked everyone to display flags in front of their house or building. But, each particular state settle how Flag Day shall be observed.

     Just imagine that all the history of Flag Day started just in that political year of 1885!
