(China)

There are also many earthquakes in Japan, and still are. Once in China, 240,000 people gave up their lives in a quake. That should show that North America isn't the only place that has earthquakes.

Earthquakes also might cause other disasters. One example is tsunamis where the earthquake makes a wave that rises over land, causing floods. But one disaster causes quakes. Sometimes volcanoes start right before earthquakes begin. That's one warning sign.

Tools to measure earthquakes have been around for…probably centuries. One tool was invented by the Chinese. A dragon made out of stone held a ball in it's mouth. Stone frogs rested below with mouths open wide. If the ball dropped into a frog's mouth during a earthquake, it came from that direction. Modernly, we use L.A.G.E.O.S., pendulums, or a seismograph.

When a seismograph moves up and down in a very fast movement, a big earthquake's coming or already has begun.

One thing is that people can be so careless, they create their own earthquake.
by hauling nuclear waste into the ground. Or by making sonic blasts by bombs.

Earthquakes can be very dangerous. You might never know when one will happen. I don't know if I have made up my mind, but I'll stick with earthquakes right now. You might not have your mind made up. That's OK.
