Frequency

Over 1511 volcanoes have been active in the last 10,000 years.
Twenty volcanoes probably erupt at any given time, with 12-15 of those being volcanoes that pretty much are erupting all the time.

Damages

Volcanoes generally don't activate every two days, in fact they never do. Although they hardly erupt, they do 1,000's of dollars in damage. A very deadly eruption is the one in which Mount Vesuvius in Italy erupted. It buried the city of Pompeii in one hundred feet of lava and ash.            (To see more about deadly volcanoes click here

Volcanoes and Earthquakes

If you had a choice between living  near a volcano or where earthquakes happen where would you live. If it was me I wouldn't live near the deadly volcanoes, I'd rather live where earthquakes are because volcanoes are very deadly and the lava burns up every thing it touches. A earthquake may bend and break materials but they don't burn them up! When an earthquake is over all you have to do is pick up a materials and build your house back up. When a volcano erupts however,
Pros
When a volcano erupts it can create new tiny islands and land.
If a volcano erupts it usually creates habitats to pioneer species.
After the lava dries out it creates mineral deposits.
Beautiful landscapes. are created when the lava dries.
Dead, dormant or active, volcanoes  generate tourism.

Cons

When volcanoes erupt they destroy old habitat and crops.
Volcanoes destroy cities, towns, communities with lava and gas.
When a volcano erupts it generally displaces  populations.
If a volcano erupts, it can be bad for businesses, people will not want to come near an active volcano.
When a volcano erupts sometimes it could generate a tsunami (a tidal wave)
