What is greatness? We realized that often the names that come to mind most easily are those people of American ancestry. However, we are a class of diverse students with diverse ancestries, heritages, and beliefs. So we set out to research some lesser-known individuals from this collage of backgrounds who demonstrate the traits of greatness.

From our seventeen biographies, in the form of informational slide shows, you will find a variety of people from many cultures, nationalities, faiths, and time periods. Some were wealthy, many were poor. Some knew success while still living and others had their achievements recognized only after their deaths. Scientists and poets - military men and authors. Teacher and inventor - prophet and martyr - chief and guide - athlete and architect. But what these people all had in common was their unique abilities to achieve greatness in their own way. Each student began with a list of quotes about greatness and proceeded to research an individual whose life and achievements compare to one of the quotes.
