A Day
MEDIA CENTER PASSES (Read Tue-Fri)
If you would like a year-long pass to visit the media center before school, please stop by the media center to pick up an application. All applications must be turned in by the end of the day on Friday. Passes will be distributed in AL on Monday, August 16. This will be your only opportunity to get a pass before fall break.
FALL SPORTS (Read Tue-Fri)
Students – if you are interested in participating in a fall sport, you must turn in your completed information packet by 4:00 pm this Friday. Information packets are available at the Student Services Counter in the school office. Fall sports include Cross Country, Boys Soccer, and Girls Volleyball. Cross Country is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
You must have a current sports physical on file – that’s a physical which is less than one year old - in order to try out and participate in a sport.
For information about physicals and any other questions about fall sports, please see Mrs. Dempsey in Student Services.
7th GRADE GIRLS VOLLEYBALL MEETING (Read Tue-Wed)
There will be an informational meeting Wednesday at lunch for all 7th grade girls interested in trying out for volleyball. The meeting will be held in the gym lobby the last 10 minutes of lunch.
DRAMA CLUB (Read Wed & Fri)
Attention all aspiring actors and actresses…..Drama Club will begin on Monday, August 23rd. We will meet directly after school in the gym lobby. Come one and come all! See what the fuss is all about. Make sure you have a ride home promptly at 4pm. See you then!
NO POD WANDERING (Read Wed)
A reminder to our students: There are to be no 7th graders in the 6th grade pod during school. And there are to be no 8th graders in the 7th grade pods visiting teachers or students.
8TH GRADE BOYS SOCCER
If you are interested in trying out for the 8th grade boys’ soccer team and did not attend this morning’s meeting, you will need to see Coach Monaco in Room A4 by the end of the day today for some important information.
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY (Read Wed & Thu)
Attention all NJHS members, our first meeting of the year will be this Friday, August 13 at 7: 15 in Mr. Schindele’s Room. See you all there.

Welcome to the first day of the 2010-2011 school year!
MARICOPA BUSSES
If you are a student who rides a Maricopa bus and you did not receive a colored wrist band either in the mail or at Meet the Teacher night, please see Mrs. Stogsdill as soon as possible. Do NOT wait until the end of the school day. All assigned Maricopa riders MUST have a colored wrist band on their backpacks.
FALL SPORTS
Any students interested in participating in Fall sports which is Cross Country, Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball come to Student Services (in the front office) to pick up your information packet. ALL PAPERWORK IS DUE THIS FRIDAY BY 4:00 p.m.
Cross Country is a non cut sport and is available to all 6, 7th and 8th grade students.
Boys Soccer is available to 7th and 8th grade boys only and it is a cut sport, you must try out.
Girls Volleyball is available to 7th and 8th grade girls only and it is a cut sport, you must try out.
Your paperwork must be turned in BEFORE you can participate or try out for a sport. The try outs for Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball starts on August 16th.
Cross Country begins on Monday, August 23rd.
Any questions about sports PLEASE come to the front office and talk to Mrs. Dempsey in Student Services.
SPORTS PHYSICALS
Kyrene school district is offering sports physicals on Wednesday, August 11th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Altadena Middle School. If you need a physical this is a perfect way to get a quick physical so your paperwork will be ready to go by this Friday.
On Thursday, August 12th at Centennial Middle School they will offer the physicals from 4 to 7 p.m. All Akimel A-al students are welcome to attend either session.
Remember if you are going to participate in any sports this school year you must have a Dr.’s physical. Physical’s are good for one calendar year!!
Don’t delay tell your parents about this now!!
