Professional Profile:
I have had a wide range of experiences over my career as an educator. I began my career in the late 1970’s teaching third and fourth grade students. I graduated with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Human Development and the Family (Early Childhood). I taught in my home state of Nebraska before coming to Mesa Public Schools in 1980. I worked in the upper elementary grades before transitioning to a district-wide role of instructional specialist. In that role, I instructed certified, support and administrative staff on a variety of topics related to classroom management, student behavior, and effective instructional strategies. I entered Kyrene in 1989 in a similar role of staff developer and worked district-wide with professional development of all staff until 1996. It was then that I began a four year career with Arizona State University College of Education in the roles of adjunct professor, student teacher supervisor, curriculum developer and assistant director of the Beginning Educator Support Team. I returned to the Kyrene School District in the role of assistant principal. I have been at Paloma since 2001 in the role of assistant principal and then as principal.
