Second Grade Music - 36 hours per school year

Students will be evaluated on their skills and knowledge.

They will also demonstrate their work in a concert.

Beat patterns using hands and feet Dividing the beat using hands and feet Rhythms (quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes, whole notes, and quarter note rests) All the pitches from the major scale All the pitches from the minor scale All the pitches from the pentatonic scale Pitch patterns in music Various song accompaniments and harmony Singing in harmony Loud and quiet sounds with volume changes Fast and slow sounds with tempo changes Heavy and light sounds Music with beats grouped in threes and fours Music that expresses ideas or emotions Large patterns of music Musical sentences Actual music signs and symbols Voice and instrumental performing techniques Classical music with its special instruments Folk music from around the world with its special instruments
