           Tombstone Arizona

Tombstone is the most famous of Arizona mining camps with its colorful history.  Monument valley was discovered by Ed Schieffelin in 1878. Tombstones maximum population had over 15,000 residents at one time. Fires nearly destroyed Tombstone twice but the town was restored  both times. Tombstone is most  famous for the O.K. Corral shootout with the Earps and Boot Hill cemetery.

Monument Valley is a beautiful and historic area in northeastern Arizona. There are many excellent views of the different sandstone end formations in this vast barren land of the Navajo Indians
The Painted Desert is colorful because of eroded rocks that has changed color. this beautiful   color lasts for 200 miles (320k)

The Meteor Crater in the state of Arizona was the first crater to be identified as an impact crater. Scientists believe it happened about 20,000 to50,000 years ago, a small asteroid about 80 ft. in diameter hit the Earth and made the crater. The crater is the best preserved crater on Earth. For many years, scientists had denied that there were any impact craters on Earth. The origin of this crater has been a cause of argument for many years.
.San Francisco  Peaks are remnants of old volcanoes which formed millions of years ago when the area was a major site of volcanic activity. In fact, the area is littered with smaller volcanic cones and peaks  which have either been worn into nothing by erosion or were more minor volcanoes to begin with.
Sunset Crater   is so amazing because its  top part is colored as if by a sunset. Sunset Crater appeared when molten rock was shot into the air from a small crack in the Earth's crust. When this molten rock fell to the ground, it was already solid and came down as large bombs. This volcanic activity continued over 200 years building and re-shaping the cone and eventually creating a 1,000-foot cinder cone volcano.
