What a wonderful year it has been for everyone at Mariposa School! With our incredible 20th Anniversary events and the breathtaking mosaic project, it has been a remarkable and memorable year for everyone! I hope that as these last busy days pass, we all can take some time to reflect on the wonderful community and partnerships we have at Mariposa. Our PTO, our volunteers and dedicated staff, and our hard working students all come together to make magic every day!  Each year really does seem to fly by and we know that everyone puts in 110% effort to continue our A+ Tradition!  A special thank you to Lynn Engel, our out-going PTO president, for two years of wonderful projects and events. We are certainly fortunate to have Lynn and our entire PTO Board working hard for your students every day.

At this time of year, we also want to extend out thanks and good wishes to staff members who will not be returning next year.  Mrs. Joanne Hentz, who is retiring after an outstanding career in Kyrene of over 18 years at Mariposa, has made her mark on the Mariposa community.  Our two new moms, Mrs. Heather Malmin and Mrs. Stephanie Fishman, are taking next year off to be full-time-mommies, so we wish them all the best as well!  Several instructional assistants will be taking on new challenges away from Mariposa as well:  Mrs. Eileen Garcia, Mrs. Sharon Oachs, and Mrs. Nikki Hetrick. We wish them all the best!  Last but not least, our wonderful Assistant Principal Janet Tobias, will be moving over to Brisas Elementary full time. She has been there half time this year and their enrollment has increased such that they will now have a full time assistant.  Mrs. Tobias has been at Mariposa for four super years and we acknowledge her many contributions to our school community!  We will miss her very much and wish her all the best next year, full time at Brisas.

As these last day progress, we are likely to have some other changes and moves. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and competent staff of teachers and support personnel.  When you receive your first Challenger News issue for the 08-09 school year in July, you will receive the full status update of personnel.

This is the last issue of “Challenger News” for this school year and we have included some key dates for the beginning of the 2008-09 school year, so mark your calendars now!  All registered families will receive the first issue of “Challenger News” via US Mail in late July.   Many thanks to everyone who made this year extra-special and memorable!!! Have a wonderful and restful summer break!
