Mariposa Homework Policy

Mariposa School adheres to the Kyrene District Policy on homework completion and request for homework during extended absences. Parents making requests for extended absence homework must complete the form at least ten (10) days prior to the date the work is needed.  Completion of homework and projects is required after absence and illness. Specific arrangements can be made with the classroom teacher regarding timeframes for completion. Grade levels may have additional guidelines for homework completion.  Additional homework is required  in both math and language arts gifted programs. 

General timeframes for grade level homework, 3-4 times per week:

• Kindergarten 5-10 minutes per night
• First grade 10-15 minutes per night
• Second grade 15-20 minutes per night
• Third grade 20-30 minutes per night
• Fourth grade 30-40 minutes per night
• Fifth grade 40-50 minutes per night
• ALL GRADES are expected to read 15 minutes per night in addition to assigned homework
