Mariposa Selected as an A+ School!

The A+ School Recognition Program is designed to identify and recognize schools whose practices exemplify excellence in the following areas: student focus and support, active teaching and learning, curriculum, community/parent involvement, leadership and assessment.  The A+ Program is open to K-12 public schools throughout Arizona.  The A+ Program is a tremendous catalyst for bringing together the surrounding community and its local neighborhood school.

The A+ School Recognition Program was created by the Arizona Educational Foundation in 1983. Its purpose is:

  • to identify and give public recognition to outstanding public schools in Arizona

  • to make available a comprehensive framework of key criteria for school effectiveness that can serve as a basis for participatory self-assessment and planning in schools

  • to facilitate communication and sharing of best practices within and among schools based on a common criteria related to success

After a lengthy application process and site visit by a review panel consisting of teachers, administrators, community volunteers and business leaders, Mariposa was selected in April of 2004.  Preparation of the application involved students, faculty, administration and the surrounding community.

Mariposa students, faculty, parents, and community members have had many opportunities to celebrate this special award.  Please visit our A+ Photo Gallery to see some pictures from our celebrations.
