About Us
In 1998, the Mariposa PTO established itself as a group of parents, teachers and administrators who volunteered their time and resources to enhance the educational experience of every child in the school.
Today, we are as committed as ever to maintaining this level of service to the students of Kyrene de la Mariposa.
In recent years PTO monies have funded such projects as the outdoor benches, large shade trees, the shade structures for the playgrounds, the marquis and the rock wall.
Each year the library is able to purchase new books through money raised by PTO-sponsored Scholastic Book Fairs.
Western Round-Up
The 2007 Mariposa Technology Challenge proved to be a success, resulting in the purchase of at least 4 new Smart-Boards, to accompany the 2 purchased 2006 with PTO funds.
In 2008 a savings surplus, due to the restructuring of the PTO budget, resulted in the purchase of choral risers for the Music Department, a new demonstration table for the Art Studio, math supplies, upgrades to the school website, and the 2008-2009 calendar magnets for each Mariposa Family.
In addition, monies have been already set aside from that surplus for the repainting of the USA map near the ramada, additional outdoor benches, landscaping upgrades, and banners for recurring events such as Harvest Festival/Spring Social and the Fun Run.
The Art Masterpiece program, which serves to enhance our students understanding and appreciation of art, is coordinated by PTO volunteers.
PALS, an extremely valuable service coordinated and funded by the PTO, helps take some pressure of the teachers by assisting in the preparation of classroom materials and keeping the focus on quality instructional time.
The PTO funds and organizes fun events for students, like the Harvest Festival and Spring Social, a teacher hospitality program and many other worthwhile projects.
As members of the Mariposa community, parents and families, teachers and administrators - we are all a members of the Kyrene de la Mariposa PTO.
