This year, the first grade team is looking forward to exploring the new Social Studies curriculum including learning about Arizona and the Native Americans who lived here long ago. We will also travel as far as Egypt and learn about the origins of that culture, finding the differences as well as similarities between the Egyptians and the Native Americans. Science ROCKS this year with geological explorations, the study of animals and their habitats, and balance and motion fun! We are most proud of our awesome authors in this grade and never cease to be amazed by the creative power of a pencil in a first grader's hand. Through small moment personal narratives to poetry and on to non fiction writing, these students will learn from master authors the tricks of how to communicate in writing. Add to this the enthusiastic love of reading that is fostered in each of our classes and you end up with a wonderful year of growth and development.
