Principal's Corner

Welcome to Centennial Middle School.  I am honored to be the principal of this wonderful school!  The staff members at Centennial are very dedicated and hard-working professionals.  They put your child’s best interest first, and believes every child at Centennial  can be successful!    I find that our students are bright, inquisitive, respectful and love learning.  Our parents and community members are dedicated and supportive.

At Centennial, the staff  will do “whatever it takes” to support student success in their academics, social and emotional development.  We provide a wide range of enrichment and support programs for students during and after school from athletics to clubs.  Our Fine Arts and Exploratory programs are exceptional programs where students can find success in their individual strengths from band to art.

Technology in every classroom is exceptional.  Every classroom has six laptops, a proxima presentation system and a document camera to enhance and support all areas of the curriculum.   We are lucky to have three computer labs with top of the line equipment.  Our staff has a wealth of knowledge and training in technology which only supports student achievement.

I have been in the Kyrene School District for twenty one years.   I started out teaching at Del Norte Elementary, then moving to Monte Vista the first year it was open.  I transitioned with my fifth graders to Akimel Middle School the second year it was open and taught language arts, social studies and math.  After five years, I went into administration at Akimel as the 6th grade administrator.  I was then transferred to Aprende Middle School as the Assistant Principal.  After two years there, I went back to elementary as the Assistant Principal at Mariposa Elementary School.  Later I was transferred to Altadena Middle School as the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.  I then had the great privilege to become the Principal at Lomas Elementary school where I stayed for seven years.  Presently, I have had the wonderful privilege to come to Centennial as the Principal.  I have two sons, who were Kyrene kids, two beautiful grand-daughters and a dog named Abby.  In my spare time I play golf, read, ride my bike, walk, watch Nascar races, camp and travel.

We need your help in educating your child.  We welcome you to come and be a part of the Centennial Community.  It takes us working together to help your child to be a person of character and to be successful in school!

The greatest gift I have been given is to be here at Centennial working with a great staff, students and supportive parents.  If you need to contact me, please email me at emiche@kyrene.org or call me at (480) 783-2580.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your child’s life and educating them for the future!

Ev Michell, Principal
