Centennial Site Council

Purpose

Centennial Middle School Site Council has been formed to work collaboratively with Ms. Cranson, our principal, on continuous improvement of the school.

 

CMS Mission Statement

Centennial Middle School is a community partnership dedicated to achieving the educational goals of our students while addressing their emotional and social needs, in a mutually respectful and safe environment that promotes lifelong learning.

 

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

The CMS Homework Hotline is being monitored by this committee.

The CMS Course of Study is being reviewed and revised by the committee and content leaders for the 2003-2004 school year.

Membership

  • Principal:  Responsible for assuring implementation of decisions and under whose authority the Site Council functions.

  • Teachers: One teacher from each grade level either volunteers or is appointed by the principal.  One teacher is designated by TLC (Team Leader Council).  Teachers may serve up to three years.

  • Parents: Parents representing each grade level within CMS are chosen by lottery from volunteers.  Parents may serve up to three years.  PTC (Parent/Teacher Council) names one additional parent.

  • Students:  Each grade at CMS is represented by one student.  Students are chosen by a lottery, and serve one year.

  • Administrative staff: Individuals from CMS staff either volunteer or are appointed by the principal.

  • Community member:  A volunteer from the community who, preferably, is a non-parent at CMS and serves up to three years.

Responsibilities of Members

  • The Site Council meets September through May of each year

  • Attend the monthly Site Council meeting -- 2 hours per month

  • Join and participate in at least one of the following sub-committees: 

    • Student Achievement

    • School of Choice

    • Safe Schools

  • Attend the monthly meeting of one of the subcommittees--2 hours per month

  • Work on subcommittee projects--2 hours per month

  • Attend one 2-3 hour training session by the Kyrene School District
