Program Mission
To provide a quality program that maximizes the potential of each student.

Kyrene Learning labs provide opportunities to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge for moving onto the next phase of a student's academic career.

Program Goals
Provide a safe, engaging environment that inspires learning and the well being of students outside of their regular school day.

Provide a support system for students that encourages responsibility and accountability in the areas of:

• Work Completion

• Core academic skills

• Productive study habits

• Organizational skills

Students will succeed with improvement of increased:

• Homework completion

• Overall academic achievement

• Attendance at school

• Social connections at school

• Self-confident behaviors

This program is held at all Kyrene middle schools, 1 hour a day, 3 days a week, before or after school.

Students are encouraged to sign themselves in to receive assistance for daily homework, future projects and tests, quiet reading time, and social guidance from a mentor.

Teachers can refer and/or recommend students who have missing assignments. Teachers are responsible for providing Learning Lab staff with necessary work and resources for students to accurately complete their work.

Remedial Tutoring help in the areas of Math, Writing and Reading are available. Students receive remedial instruction in areas they are deficient. Teachers or parents may refer or recommend students, and must provide Learning Lab staff with appropriate objectives for mastery of skills to be completed within an appropriate time frame. It is recommended that a minimum of 2 weeks is given for the mastery of skills.

Evaluation Data will be collected from participating students in conjunction with the Safe School/Healthy Students Grant.
